7 Pillars of Mindfulness: A Guide to Finding Inner Peace

Mindfulness is a form of wisdom that allows us to be open and curious, to accept the new, and to trust ourselves and our feelings. It is a practice of being an impartial witness to our own experience, and of having patience with the fact that we are all beginners. To find peace within ourselves, we must understand the seven pillars of mindfulness. The first pillar is to be patient.

As the saying goes, patience is a virtue. We must accept that events in our life will unfold over time and not rush them. We must live in the moment for what it is and not be too paralyzed with the future. The second pillar is to have confidence in ourselves, our beliefs, and our intuition.

We must be our own person and let our ideals guide us. This will ensure that we are on the right path. The third pillar is to be open to learning and listening. We must be receptive to new information, but ultimately make decisions based on what we think and believe.

The fourth pillar is not striving. We must recognize that what we are is enough and that striving to be “different” or “better” can be distracting. We must accept who we are and find comfort in that so that we can focus on what matters in the present moment. The fifth pillar is being without judgment.

We must observe everything impartially without labeling things, people, or attitudes. The sixth pillar is building basic confidence in ourselves and our feelings. We must trust our own intuition even if we make mistakes along the way. The seventh pillar is not trying hard. This does not mean not working hard, but rather being present with intention and leaving aside the results. By following these seven pillars of mindfulness, we can live a more balanced and healthy life.

We can learn to accept the way things really are without being marred by our prejudices, and find peace within ourselves.
